February 2018 Indian Customs Statistics
According to statistics from the Indian Business Information Administration and the Indian Ministry of Commerce, in January and February 2018, India’s import and export volume was US$128.98 billion, an increase of 12.7% over the same period of the previous year. Among them, exports were US$50.63 billion, up 5.7%; imports were US$78.34 billion, up 17.7%. The trade deficit was 27.71 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 48.8%.
In the month of February, the import and export of Indian goods was US$63.16 billion, an increase of 5.4%. Among them, exports were 25.45 billion U.S. dollars, down 0.6%; imports were 37.71 billion U.S. dollars, up 10.0%. The trade deficit was 12.27 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 41.4%.
In January-February, bilateral import and export of goods between India and China was US$15.38 billion, an increase of 27.4%. Among them, India's exports to China amounted to 2.29 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 10.3%, accounting for 4.5% of India's total exports, an increase of 0.2%; India imported 13.08 billion U.S. dollars from China, an increase of 31.0%, accounting for 16.7% of India's total imports, and an increase of 1.7 percentage point. India’s trade deficit with China was US$10.79 billion, an increase of 36.4%.
As of February, China is India’s fourth largest export destination and the largest source of imports.
